Samsung Galaxy Watch Removes Vascular Load Feature

Thousands of Galaxy Watch owners in the United States Will see notable changes in their smartwatch’s overnight health. Previously, the company used the Vascular Load feature to monitor overnight health.

Now Samsung has confirmed it will replace this feature with the upcoming One UI 9 Watch update and Samsung Health 7.0, and it’s already making room for a new Blood pressure trend tool.

It’s a noticeable shift in Samsung’s approach to long-term cardiovascular monitoring, and yes, it could affect Galaxy Watch users who relied on overnight wellness insights, since that feature is no longer available.

Why Samsung Is Removing Vascular Load on Galaxy Watch

When it was introduced, Vascular Load was an experimental feature that estimated stress on blood vessels while users slept.

There is an optical heart sensor right in the watch, which typically analyses changes in blood flow and vascular stiffness overnight.

It’s another way for users looking to understand how their sleep, stress, and daily activities could influence cardiovascular health.

Samsung has finally decided to discontinue this feature in the United States for Galaxy Watch users, even though it was attracting interest from new users daily.

Vascular Load will be unavailable after users install Samsung Health 7.0 alongside One UI 9 Watch; Samsung has already sent this notice to users. Before this update, users had to export their data before it disappeared.

There is no publicly available detail regarding removal of this feature. While the company is still focusing on health efforts to understand blood pressure trends, they believe they will find a practical, long-term solution for everyday wellness.

What Blood Pressure Trends Will Offer Instead

The feature that will be provided in its place will be called Blood Pressure Trend. Before, users relied on a single reading, but this feature is designed to monitor how blood pressure changes over time.

Unlike the old Vascular Load method, the new Blood Pressure Trend system requires users to calibrate their Galaxy smartwatch with a compatible blood pressure cuff before tracking begins.

The company states that the Galaxy Watch will collect intermittent measurements, display long-term trends, and provide guidance to encourage healthy daily habits.

The company clarifies that this feature is not recommended for diagnosing or treating medical conditions; it will only be available for general wellness.

As the Vascular Load feature will be unavailable for the United States, the upcoming blood pressure monitoring trend feature will be available for more users. It is expected to launch with the new generation of Samsung Galaxy Watch.

What This Means for Samsung Galaxy Watch Users

After the update, United States users will lose access to the Vascular Load feature. Therefore, if you want to keep previous records, it’s crucial to download your health data before the update.

The company hopes users will receive the transition feature well.
